Pre-Certification Specialist

We are currently looking for a Pre-Certification Specialist to join our professional team. Colorado Mountain Medical is a team of primary care physicians, specialists and other practitioners with offices in Vail, Avon, and Eagle, Colorado. Colorado Mountain Medical providers offer total family care emphasizing wellness and preventative medicine, as well as treatment of illness or injury with urgent care services in each clinic location.

Scope:
Responsible for completing pre-certifications for in-office and operating room procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes and documents insurance pre-certifications and coordination of benefits for all procedures/medication administration prior to scheduling.
- Updates patient registrations when appropriate.
- Obtains correct address information, telephone numbers and insurance information from the patient.
- Informs patient of out of pocket expenses they will be required to pay prior to scheduling procedures ensuring accurate documentation.
- Informs patient of account balances that must be paid prior to procedure.
- Directs uninsured patients to the business office.
- Collects required fees prior to procedure.
- Provides outside facility with authorization information.
- Updates patient registrations when appropriate.
- Obtains correct address information, telephone numbers and insurance information from the patient.
- Calls patients to remind them of appointment time and location.
- Assist with pre-certification and scheduling duties for other practice disciplines and procedures as assigned.
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned including providing back-up to surgery schedulers.

Requirements and Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Minimum of two years administration or similar experience preferred. - Previous medical office experience preferred. - Computer and typing proficiency. - Displays strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills. - Professionalism and ability to be discreet with confidential and sensitive issues. - Ability to perform multiple tasks. - Ability to foster professional and productive relationships. - Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance and OSHA rules and regulations preferred.
